0403 Hualien Shoufeng Earthquake Claim Information Update (as of May 10, 2024)
As of May 10, 2024, the statistics is as follows:
A total of 18 buildings containing insured households have been examined and inferred damaged (one building less as it did not meet the claim standard after assessment); 6 buildings have been determined to meet the claim criteria and 12 buildings are needed to be further assessed among them.
There are 417 affected insured cases with the exposed insurance amount of approximately NT$666 million; 50 cases out of them have been paid.
According to the official document sent to each county and city government from National Land Management Agency, the urgent work such as building damage assessed by professional engineers/qualified loss adjustors for the basic residential earthquake insurance, should be permitted to enter the damaged buildings for assessment as long as there is no other legal restriction and the protection preparations are made.
Regarding those damaged residential buildings sealed off with “Red Warning” or “Yellow Warning” stickers, the arrangements are as follows:
- With Red Warning: for those damaged residential buildings, chartered civil engineers have been dispatched for further assessment.
- With Yellow Warning: for those affected residential buildings, qualified loss adjustors form insurance companies will be arranged into those buildings and have assessment next week.
